My first Kimchi.

After our trip to Butterton Moor and Nottingham, Mira headed to London to join her family for holidays, and myself and Chars headed to Bristol.
Being the food enthusiasts that we are, we tried this place called "Tampopo" - a rather peculiar name for a restaurant following a Japanese comedy film back in '85 translated into "Dandelion".
Tampopo is a halal fusion restaurant incorporating Malaysian, Thai, Korean and Japanese food under one roof.

Very "Dasar Pandang ke Timur" if you ask me.
Sounds like our kinda place.
Chars ordered Chap Chae- a stir fried Korean noodles- sedap!

I ordered Khao Sai- a Thai version of Laksa- heavy with the coconut milk, less on the spiciness.

We had these scrumptious dishes with Prawn crackers- and I decided to throw in some Kimchi.
Its like a Korean version of sambal/cili kicap- a sauce that's made of pickled cabbage- and I loved it.
I have to be honest though, the idea of eating pickled cabbage puts me off at first- But kimchi has an interesting blend of sweet, sour and that added crunchiness from the cabbage made it for a good side dish with anything, really.
I may be slow in joining the bandwagon- but now I can safely say, I understand the craze that is kimchi.

Heck, I loved tempoyak which is, in a way, is preserved durian so cabbages shouldn't be a challange lah :p

"I <3 Tompopo"
Chars, after putting up 12 hours of walking around Bristol looking for goodies for my fam back at home, hehe.

We headed for Starbucks before watching Bridesmaids- which by the way was hillarious- but God forbids my life ever turns out that way :S
Worth a watch with girlfriends nonetheless.

(PS- Go to Seemile.com for online tutorials on all "Dasar Pandang ke Timur" languages, hehe- I'm doing this just so I could understand the songs I'm listening to- its the same process of learning English, really- listen and speak/write. So here's to hoping I'd get the hang of this language as much as I'm comfortable speaking in English :D )
